We've brought in a few of the newer 5510/5520 models and they are good but we do see issues from time to time on connectivity to external devices (typically a reboot clears it up). We have a ton of them in our offices and they work great with the Latitude 5580/5590/5591 laptops. We are leaning towards monitors with the dock capability and one recommendation was the Dell UltraSharp 24 - U2422HE (possibly the replacement for the U2421HE mentioned above).įor docks we were looking at the Dell D6000 Universal if anyone can comment on them.Īs for the D6000 docks, Dell is getting rid of them (heard through the grapevine) and their newer laptops are not fully compatible. We do get issues with the screen switching and occasionally have had issue with a speech mike not working when the device is connected. We currently have Surface devices (Pro 4 & 5, Laptop 2, Book 2) with MS Surface docks. Will watch this thread with interest as we are currently assessing new Laptops, monitors & docks. I'm hoping with the UK pushing for consistent Power Connectors, this will slowly move to some other devices, even here in the US, but if time has proven anything to me it's that there will be change to this soon and we'll be fighting with something else like this again soon. Some combinations seem to have no to little issue for users, where others have had nothing but nightmares with them. I think most of this boils down to, they are all using the same Chips to make the docks and just rebranding them as "Name" product. It looks like the answer to your question is this: There is no consistency to docking stations and no one is better than the other. All the posts have equal yes this one is great with No this one isn't use this one. After looking through this thread so far, and reading all the reviews of yes to this but no to that I can officially say, you're back to square 1. Networks_jj so I just got on this thread and we're a Lenovo house here and I can say that the ThunderBolt 3 Gen 1 Docks that Lenovo had were solid, but even Lenovo limits what they support those units on before they require you to go to the Gen 2 version.
